What We Are Reading, Listening to and Viewing

Monthly we will be publishing a listing of the most circulated titles within the library for the previous month. There are six categories with the top "seller" being listed first in each category and the number of times that title has been checked out. Perhaps you might be interested in reading, listening to or viewing these resources as well.

How do I Use Interlibrary Loan?

Dunham Public Library is a member of the Mid-York Library System which consists of 43 libraries in Herkimer, Madison and Oneida counties. Patrons are able to seamlessly borrow items from all of the member libraries. If the item is not available in one of these libraries, Library Reference staff can assist a patron in borrowing outside the system. This network extends throughout all fifty states.

Interlibrary Loan: Inside the System

In System requests may be made in person at the Library Information Desk, by telephone, or online through the Mid-York catalog. A valid library card is required and there is no fee.

Interlibrary Loan: Outside the System

To request an item directly from the Mid-York catalog, click on Can’t Find It? in the online catalog. You must be logged in with your library card number for this to be visible. Requests may also be made in person at the Information Desk or by phone at 736-9734 during regular library hours. There is no fee for this service and a valid library card is required. Please allow a minimum of one to three weeks for your item to arrive.

Patrons will be notified whether or not the item can be procured. Items ordered from outside the system include:

  • Books published after 1840;
  • Books more than one year old:
  • Books out of print;
  • Microfilm and microfiche;
  • DVD and VHS video recordings;
  • CD’s and cassettes;
  • Photocopies of articles from magazines and journals.

Items borrowed from outside the System can usually be renewed once. All items borrowed from outside the system must be renewed in person and returned to the Library that originated the request. Due dates are set by the owning/lending Library and may not be the same as the usual lending policies of Dunham Public Library.
